Hi, I’m Brenda. I’m an author and trained as an integrative mental health counselor with a passion for helping people improve their experience of their “one wild and precious life.”*
This website is my vehicle for connecting with more people than what I am able to through face-to-face encounters. It’s my hope to share with you resources which will inspire you to have a New Thought and a Right Action. No therapy is offered through this website, but lots of coaching, education, inspiration, motivation, and plain, practical suggestions are.
I entered the mental health field in my 40s after spending many years working for non-profits and higher learning institutions as a public relations specialist. I love writing and my first degree is in journalism. I earned it when newspapers were thriving and people sat and read them over a cup of coffee in the work break room on weekdays or in their recliner on Sunday mornings.
As a journalist I listened to the stories of many fascinating people. I do the same thing as a counselor with the exception I don’t share your story with anyone else. It’s a sacred honor to fully listen to another human being’s story.
What’s New Thought, Right Action?
As a cognitive-behavioral therapist, I help people grow in awareness of thoughts that impede their progress to enjoying their experience in life. New Thought, Right Action is a simple way to describe the outcome of cognitive-behavioral therapy. The idea for the name came when I was watching documentaries on Emmett Fox and Viktor Frankl–two people who personally inspire me.
